The Hearing Specialists is a locally owned and operated hearing clinic. Dr. Kim McCarthy, Au.D, along with her dedicated staff offer the best in hearing health care. Since graduating from university in 1997, Kim has acquired a diverse background in the hearing industry. She has spent the last 14 years working in a hospital setting, private practice and for two major hearing aid manufacturers. Kim spent many years traveling around the world learning about the latest in hearing aid technology and hearing science and training Audiologists all over Canada in the best practices for treating hearing loss and fitting hearing devices. This vast array of experience enables us to provide our patients with the very best service and products available.
Who is an audiologist?
An Audiologist is the specialist trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of hearing health. Audiologists have at least a graduate degree from an accredited university. They typically have a minimum of seven years of post-secondary education where they receive extensive academic and clinical training in all aspects of hearing health.
Who is a doctor of audiology?
Most recently, we have seen the introduction of doctoral level programs. Upon completion of a Masters degree audiologists can receive more extensive training on a number of hearing healthcare topics over the course of 2-3 years.
